Trailer Review: 30 Days Of Night

Name Of Film: 30 Days Of Night

Genre Of Trailer: Action Horror

Year Released: 2007

Your Mark After Viewing: 8/10

In my opinion this trailer portrayed the film to be an excellent horror film. It was a highlights trailer and focused mainly on the more frightening, fast pieces of the movie, which s good because it keeps the trailer fast paced and exciting. The trailer just summarised several different sequences from the film, we get introduced to the characters and we find out a little bit about the narrative of the film. We see small short glimpses of the ‘vampires’ and a few small action scenes. The trailer shows great suspense and has brilliant jumpy bits, this trailer is certainly rift with the ‘scare factor’ that makes a great horror film. There was also restricted narration as this was a green band trailer, one of the criticisms was that there wasn’t any body horror in the trailer but because of the well-executed restricted narration it didn’t need to be included. One criticism I have was the piece of music played towards the end of trailer didn’t fit, it wasn’t eerie enough and killed the suspense at the start of the trailer.

All in all the trailer marked very well in class, this was because the trailer started with a jump, it had restricted narration so there was no need for gore, and it ended with a jump.
